Pet Food Bank (PFB)

This is a program to assist
low-income families feed their pets.
We provide healthy, affordable pet food & litter to
low-income families for a donation of roughly
½ the retail value of the product.  

Cash and Credit Cards are accepted
No checks - No Link cards

We offer this Curbside program to
Assist you in feeding your pet. 
We do not deliver.

Unless PRIOR arrangements are made, the food is only available on the monthly PFB date and time.
If you request food and do not pick it up,

it Will Not be held for the next Pet Food Bank.
The PFB is the 2nd Saturday each month

10a-11:50a

You Must Arrive by 11:45am so you can pick up the food by 11:50a.
Food is Not available after the PFB closes and the food will not be held for you.

 

How It Works

Step 1.  Pick out food/supplies for your pets

(keeping in mind the maximum household limits: Dry Food, dog & cat - One large bag

Canned - Dog 12 10-15oz cans OR 24  3-8oz cans
Cat 30 cans; Litter: 40#

The PFB carries only the following food:

Dogs – LIMIT One Large Bag

·     Medium/Large Dogs

      Lg Bag Purina Dog Chow Chicken or Beef

      BY REQUEST ONLY - Lg Bag Members Mark Grain Free 

·     Small Dogs – Lg Bag Pedigree Small Dog

Puppy – Lg Bag Purina Puppy Chow

Canned DogLIMIT 12 10-15oz cans or 24 3-8oz cans          BY REQUEST ONLY (we do not stock canned dog food)

Cats – LIMIT One Large Bag

      Lg Bag Friskies Surfin’ & Turfin’

      Lg Bag Meow Mix Original

      Lg Bag Purina Cat Chow

      Lg Bag Purina One Purposeful Nutrition Sensitive Skin &                         Stomach (Color Free)

      Lg Bag Kit & Kaboodle Original

Kitten – Lg Bag Purina Kitten Chow

Canned Cat – 30 can LIMIT

Litter – 40# LIMIT - Farm & Fleet Scoopable Litter

 

These are the ONLY PRODUCTS Available from the NHAO PET FOOD BANK. We no longer take requests for other food unless your pet has a medical need for a special diet.

If your pet has a medical need for a different type/brand of food, have your Vet email your name and the prescription (Rx) to NewHopeAnimalOutreach@gmail.com  Once we have the Rx, we will request a special donation from our supporters and if it is donated, we will have it for you.  

Step 2.  Request the food/supplies 

 

If you have FACEBOOK:

Anytime before the 1st Saturday of the month @ 11:59pm, go to our Facebook Page "New Hope Animal Outreach" and send us a message with your food/supply request.
(keeping the household limits in mind)

"PFB Request for (your name), (cell number)"

If you Do Not have Facebook:

Text to 217-853-3640 with "PFB Request for (your name)" Please only request this way if you Do Not have Facebook. 

Deadline is the First Sat. of each month.
If you have trouble remembering to request by the deadline, get into the habit of placing your request
on the 1st of each month.

As of Feb, 2023, we are no longer able to accept late requests for the monthly
Pet Food Bank
 for any reason

We will DO OUR BEST to have this food for you at the PFB, but we cannot guarantee we will have the food.

We are limited by our resources, store supplies, and the amount of food donated by our supporters each month

    A member of each household must be present to accept their food at the Pet Food Bank unless prior arrangements are made with us.

   If you have a family member, friend or neighbor that needs food, please pass along our website address to them so they can learn about the program and participate.

Step 3. Pick up your requested items

Pet Food Bank Day - 2nd Saturday each month

 

2919 N Oakland Ave, Decatur IL

10am to 11:50am

We close at 12noon - be sure to arrive by 11:50am to receive your items!

Directions: We share a driveway with University Auto. We are the little white house to the south of the auto shop.

Usually, cars pull up and make a circle through the parking lot so that once they have their items, they are able to just pull forward and leave the lot. 

     ​

The PFB is a curbside service. STAY IN YOUR CAR.

Text 217-853-3640 with this information:
"(your name), (car color), Food Requested".
If you want a receipt, also include "w/ Receipt". 

Example: "Jane Doe, silver car, food requested, receipt"

Someone will come to your car, receive your donation, and bring your food to your car. If requested, a receipt can be texted to you.

NOTE: If you do not pick up the requested food at the PFB during our normal PFB hours, it will not be held and will be made available to other people.

If you HAVE NOT requested food by Deadline
You may still be able to get some food, depending on what we have left in our inventory. ​

If you want a receipt, also include "with Receipt". 

Example: "Jane Doe, silver car, Purina Dog Chow Chicken, receipt"

​Someone will come to your car, receive your donation and, if we have the items, bring your food to your car. If requested, a receipt will be texted to you.

** Be aware that any food Requested by the Deadline will be set aside for YOU ONLY (if it is available) and will not be available to other customers unless it is not picked up by you.
